about

The Bassingbourn herd of pedigree Limousins was founded by Daniel Turner in 2011 with females sourced from a number of leading herds across the UK.

Early purchases included cows and heifers from the Winnington and Grange herds’ production sales, as well as females sourced from the East Midlands Limousin Club sales at Newark.

The herd aims to breed top quality Limousins suited to both the commercial and pedigree sectors, with a keen emphasis on breeding males and females with scope and style complemented by length and shape.

A broad base of the best UK and French bloodlines have formed the basis of the Bassingbourn herd, with a wide spectrum of bulls used both naturally and by AI to give access to the best modern Limousin genetics while at the same time developing new cow families within the herd from the female lines purchased.

The herd, which is managed on a day to day basis by Daniel Turner with the aid of his stockman, shows locally at a number of leading East Anglian shows and offers bulls and females for sale both from home and at the East Midlands Limousin Club’s sale at Newark. Early show success for the herd has included taking the breed championship at the East of England Show 2013 along with reserve male and reserve female championships at Suffolk Show in the same year.

The herd is accredited free of BVD, is accredited level two for Johnes and is in a TB4 area.
